The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka has joined the fight against COVID-19

Although our facilities are closed, we continue to evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of our communities and take an active role in the fight against COVID-19. Now more than ever, the Y remains committed to building healthy and connected individuals, families and communities across Simcoe County, Muskoka and Parry Sound.

  • We are providing child care to support essential frontline workers and their families
  • We are providing teachers with physical activity resources to support distance teaching and help keep kids active while at home
  • We are reaching out to understand the evolving needs of our community
  • We are connecting people to free virtual programming to support their health and well-being at home
  • We are maintaining our supports for our most vulnerable populations
  • We are supporting our Y family by providing support to staff facing financial hardships as a result of facility closures

We are here now, responding to the needs in our communities during the COVID-19 crisis.

We are delivering free emergency licensed child care to support the families of front line essential services workers.

We are making it easy for teachers to deliver physical fitness activities to their students through YGym.

We are engaging our participants, stakeholders and partners to better understand how the Y can meet the ever-changing needs of our community.

We are connecting people of all ages with free online programs that promote health and well-being while social distancing through YMCAHome.ca.

We are continuing to deliver programs and services virtually that support our community’s most vulnerable populations including recent immigrants, adults facing unemployment and youth at risk.

We are supporting our Y family by providing support to YMCA employees facing financial hardship as a result of facility closures (including extended health benefits and the launch of an emergency fund).

Stay With Us!

On March 15, 2020, the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka announced the temporary closure of all of its health and fitness centres, following the advice of Ontario’s Medical Officer of Health.

With the closure of our YMCA facilities, we immediately stopped membership payments until we re-open our facilities. We continue to evolve, still working to support our supporting our members and communities.

You can help.

If you are able, we are asking you to stay with us. Help the Y continue to pivot in the face of COVID-19. Your monthly membership is crucial in enabling us to continue our work and cover general operating expenses.
