Although our facilities are closed, our work continues. At the Y, we continue to respond to the needs in our communities during the COVID-19 crisis.
  • We are providing child care to support essential frontline workers and their families
  • We are providing teachers with physical activity resources to support distance teaching and help keep kids active while at home
  • We are reaching out to understand the evolving needs of our community
  • We are connecting people to free virtual programming to support their health and well-being at home
  • We are maintaining our supports for our most vulnerable populations
  • We are supporting our Y family by providing support to staff facing financial hardships as a result of facility closures

Schedule of Events

Legs, Tum & Bum is a light-hearted, yet powerful class, which will tone and shape the areas we tend to worry about most. The program is designed to increase stamina and overall aerobic fitness. The class starts with an aerobic warm-up, followed by exercises designed to tone and build strength with a stretch session at the end to increase flexibility.

Instructor: Yvonne, Gravenhurst YMCA

Run, Jump Play will introduce your child to FUNdamental movement skills needed to play a variety of sports and activities.  This session will have an emphasis on jumping, dodging, balance and agility.  The session will include lots of games, as well as instruction, group and individual feedback to improve participant skill level.  Emphasis is on learning through doing and having fun.

Instructor: Jenny, Wasaga Beach YMCA

On the Move is a full-body workout that focuses on timing and coordination of movement, including cardiovascular and muscle conditioning. This program is suitable for older adults through to the beginner exerciser, incorporating a variety of resistance techniques to improve strength, balance, flexibility, and posture.

The Cardio Kick class is a group fitness class that begins with an intense cardio workout, incorporating power, coordination, and endurance moves.  Cardio Kick is an amazing interval workout that combines cardio, basic boxing and modified martial arts kicks. This program is designed to build stamina, improve coordination and flexibility, and burn calories in a fun and challenging environment.

Yoga will help you learn to bring yourself to a peaceful frame of mind through postures, meditation and breathing exercisesMaintaining a regular yoga practice can provide a wide variety of physical and mental health benefits.

Watch and learn how to make Origami! All you need is a piece of paper, and something to colour with (pencils, crayons, markers, etc.). Aaron will walk you through how to make a boat, fold-by-fold!

Mindfulness is the practice of being fully aware in the present moment without judgement or bias towards how you feel. Learn about simple mindfulness techniques to allow yourself to experience your day with a different lens. We will be focusing mainly on connection and how it pertains to the world around us, what it means to be connected and how we can enhance the connections that currently exist. Join us for 30 minutes of great discussion, easy practices and our Y community that we miss so much!

Brush up on your aquatic safety knowledge, including a fun game teaching the entire family what and how to pack for a boating trip.

Instructor: Kate, Orillia YMCA

A ½ hour filled with fun, interactive activities and movement as we explore in a trip to the ‘FARM’. We will learn about different animals, what they look like and the sounds they make. A time to sing and dance while playing farm yard freeze dance. Farm yard exercises are very important to stay strong, so clear some floor space for our farmyard workout, grab a quick drink of water as we settle into some restful yoga on the farm.

Bring your favourite animal to share with your friends or, just to keep you company, wear comfy clothes and have a water bottle close by.

HIIT is the ideal workout for a busy schedule. The program offers a complete approach to interval training using equalizer bars coupled with high energy music and Tabata inspired intervals to build: strengthspeed, and agility.  This program is suitable for all fitness levels and abilities.

Join the Camp Kitchikewana staff as they host a Campfire! Expect to sing along to songs, learn silly dance moves, and have a whole lot of fun. Don’t forget your S’Mores!
